Who's changed their energy prices?

Retailers can change a plan's prices at any time, and each change shows up on Energy Made Easy. We read every retailer's plans there each night, so this logs each change as it's published: which plans, by how much, and from when.

Since 17 September 2026

758plans from 9 retailers have changed price; 512 of them are residential plans anyone can join.

Every price change, newest first

One line per retailer, state and kind of plan, dated from the day the new prices apply. The figure beside each is the typical change across those plans. A plan sold in two states shows under each.

By retailer

Each retailer that has changed a price since 17 September 2026, with the typical change across its plans of each fuel. Red Energy, Origin Energy and GloBird Energy changed most recently.

Typical is the middle change across a retailer's changed plans. Cuts in what you pay are in green and rises in red; for solar feed-in, which is paid to you, a rise is green. Download every change as CSV, or follow new ones by RSS.

Published by each retailer under the Consumer Data Right, via the AER's Energy Made Easy, last changed by them on 28 Oct 2026. Figures are shown as the institution publishes them and can change without notice; confirm on their site before applying. The Finance Algorithm earns nothing from any product listed here.

How the tracker works

How do you know a plan's price changed?
Every night we read every retailer's plans from Energy Made Easy, where retailers publish them under the Consumer Data Right. A change counts when a plan keeps its id and its prices move, or when a plan is withdrawn and exactly one plan with the same name, network and tariff structure takes over from a later date. That is how most price changes arrive: Energy Made Easy gives each new version of a plan a new id. If more than one plan could be the replacement, we leave it out rather than guess.
Which prices are compared?
Three: the usage rate (the single rate, or the peak rate on a time-of-use plan), the daily supply charge, and the best solar feed-in the retailer itself pays. Seasonal rates are averaged over the year by the days each season covers. All are as the retailer publishes them, usually before GST.
Why does the tracker start on 17 September 2026?
That is the first night we kept a full copy of every retailer's plans. A change from before then can't be checked against what came before it, so it isn't counted. The first change the tracker found took effect on 1 July 2026.
Can I use the data?
Yes. Every change, with the plan, its old and new prices and the day it applies from, is in a CSV file linked on this page, refreshed each morning. Please name The Finance Algorithm and Energy Made Easy as the source.
