What extras pay back.

An extras policy pays a set amount for each claim, and the amounts differ a lot between funds. Here's the most each fund's policies pay for the claims people make most, next to the typical policy, from the policy data every fund files with the government in October 2026.

Each amount is what a policy pays at a provider outside the fund's preferred network, using the national figure or NSW's where a policy pays differently by state; preferred providers often pay more, and yearly limits cap what you can claim in total. Policies sold only through employers are left out, and so are claims paid as a share of the fee. The premium is the policy's cheapest for a single in any state, before the government rebate; for a policy that combines hospital and extras, it includes the hospital cover. Every policy, with its limits and waiting periods, is in the extras explorer.

Premiums are monthly and shown before the Australian Government rebate and any Lifetime Health Cover loading or age-based discount.
