How long lenders took to pass on the September 2026 rise

The RBA announced the rise on 29 Sept 2026. The median lender of the 70 that have moved so far published its new variable rates 10 days later, and the fastest, Central Murray Bank, after 2 days. Among the big four, ANZ, CommBank and Westpac after 10 days and NAB after 11.

Borrowers and savers: who has moved which rates

Loans and deposits are repriced separately, so a lender can pass a rise on to one and not the other.

A lender counts as raising or cutting when most of the rates it moved went that way. Fixed rates follow expectations for future decisions rather than the last one, so they often move before the RBA does.

How the tracker works: published rates, read every night

What counts

Products any applicant can take up. Staff, profession, age-limited, business and rates-on-application products are left out, the same as the banking explorers.

Passed on

A lender has passed the rise on when at least half its published variable home loan rates have moved, and the typical move is 0.25 percentage points. Bigger moves read as more, smaller as in part.

Dates

A change is dated the morning our nightly read first sees it. Lenders usually switch a new rate on overnight, so that is normally the day it takes effect.

What is left out

Moves larger than 2 percentage points in one night are almost always a lender correcting its data, so they are not counted. Foreign currency accounts are excluded. History starts 18 Sept 2026.

Rates are general information, not advice. Check the lender's own site before you act, and see the methodology for how the product data is read.

How long did banks take to pass on the September 2026 rate rise?
The RBA announced the rise on 29 Sept 2026. The median lender of the 70 that have moved so far published its new variable rates 10 days later, and the fastest, Central Murray Bank, after 2 days. Among the big four, ANZ, CommBank and Westpac after 10 days and NAB after 11.
When do banks pass on an RBA rate change?

How much will my repayments go up?
At 6.80% over 25 years, a 0.25 point rise passed on in full adds about $16 a month for every $100,000 owed: about $95 on a $600,000 loan. The calculator on this page works it out for your own balance and rate.
When is the next RBA decision?
The Monetary Policy Board's next decision is due on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 2.30 pm Sydney time. A change takes effect the next day, and this tracker starts following lenders' responses from then.
Where does this data come from?
Every bank, credit union and lender on the Consumer Data Right register publishes its products and rates through a public API, as the law requires. We read all of them every night and log each published rate that changes, with its old and new value. Nothing here comes from press releases, and no lender pays to be listed.
